Last reviewed: [EDIT: date you last reviewed this policy]
This policy explains what information we collect when you use satisfyrecipes.net, why we collect it and the choices you have. We collect as little as possible.
Who is responsible for your data
This website is operated by [EDIT: your full name or registered business name, and your country]. You can contact us about privacy through our Contact page (choose “Privacy request”) or at [EDIT: privacy contact email].
Information we collect
When you contact us
The contact form asks for your name, email address and message. These are sent to us by email so we can reply. They are not stored in the website database. We keep the email in our mailbox for [EDIT: retention period, for example 12 months] and then delete it, unless we need it for an ongoing conversation.
When you comment
If you leave a comment, we store the name, email address and optional website you enter, the comment itself, and your IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam. Your email address is never published. Comments and their data are kept until the comment is removed; you can ask us to remove yours at any time.
Recipe checklists
When you tick ingredients on a recipe card, your ticks are remembered in your own browser (local storage) so they survive a page refresh. This information stays on your device and is never sent to us.
Server logs
Like every website, our hosting provider processes technical data such as IP addresses and requested pages in server logs to keep the site secure and working. [EDIT: name your hosting provider and how long it keeps logs, for example “Hostinger, up to 30 days”.]
Analytics and advertising
- Koko Analytics (self-hosted visitor statistics). Counts page views, visitors and referring websites so we know which recipes are useful. It runs on our own server: no data is sent to a third party, and no personal profile is built. It sets no cookies. To count unique visitors it creates a temporary, anonymous hash of your IP address and browser user agent combined with a random value that is replaced every day; the hashes are deleted daily and cannot be linked back to you.
Legal bases
Where data protection law such as the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for analytics and advertising cookies, on our legitimate interest in running a secure, useful website for server logs, spam protection and replying to messages you send us, and on legal obligations where they apply.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the site, such as our hosting and email providers, and the services listed above when they are active. Some of these providers may process data outside your country, under appropriate safeguards.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the EEA, the UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent at any time, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. To make a request, contact us using the details above. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
This website is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Cookies
Details of the cookies and similar technologies we use are in our Cookie Policy.
